Neukölln’s Green Rooftops

In Berlin’s district of Neukölln an existing shopping mall is being revitalized. While maintaining the existing superstructure a new concept is added to the building. By preserving concrete columns, slabs, staircases and many existing features a substantial amount of resources is saved on this project.

Furthermore, the rooftop will be transformed into a lush garden landscape. Between wooden benches, planters are placed to grow herbs and vegetables. A generous greenhouse accommodates both a restaurant and an area for cultivation.
