Eichensaal, 2012

Siemens AG

After extensive renovations, the Eichensaal was restored to its original purpose for Supervisory Board and Executive Board meetings as a supplement to the new Munich headquarters.

Not only were the preserved fittings carefully renovated, but new elements such as the floor or the lighting also make reference to the existing building, standing out self-confidently. This allows the history of the house to be read at any time.

A large, motorised height-adjustable screen developed in-house is not only completely easy to dismantle if required, but also blends harmoniously into the historic building thanks to reflections from the polished stainless steel surfaces and glazing.

Like the furniture, the floor covering can be changed for different scenarios. The lights were developed in collaboration with LichtKunstLicht especially for the Eichensaal and can be varied for different scenarios using different light sources. The result is a representative meeting room with state-of-the-art media technology which combines the restoration of the extensive oak panelling in keeping with the preservation order with the use of new, functional design and technical elements following the design concept of “innovation in the awareness of history”. Modern lighting and media technology, automatic scenery control, conference and video technology were invisibly integrated into the existing building.

The administrative building on Nonnendammallee celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013 with 77,000m² of usable space. On 29 November 2016, Angela Merkel gave the keynote speech during the ceremony marking the 200th birthday of the company’s founder in the Mosaikhalle in front of around 100 guests from politics, business, science, culture and the media.
