AMPERE
Headquarter
The industrial building Ampere in Berlin-Pankow was built in the 1920s by the architect Hans Heinrich Müller as a transformer station for the public utility company BEWAG. Operations ceased in 1993. From an architectural history perspective, the building in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district is one of the most important examples of Berlin’s industrial history. The entire building is listed as protected in the city of Berlin’s list of heritage protected buildings. The building itself is comprised of several parts that are all connected to one another and, together with the shared courtyard, form a single complex.
The recent revitalisation of the complex, with its roughly 12,000 m² of total area over 6 floors plus the basement, was completed in 2023. During the renovation and fit-out process as well as the conversion of the historical building, AUKETT + HEESE was responsible in particular for building planning and design as well as site supervision.
